Some years ago I really enjoyed an Amiga game called SEAL Team. I want to catch that spirit in my missions. In future i want to do a Nam Seal Campaign, therefore i borrowed the Trick with Episode 4 from George Lucas. (At the Moment only this mission is finished) But look out for the other Parts. Probably one mission every two or three weeks. I spent about 30 hours creating and testing this mission (i hope, there are no bugs left). Well, i must admit this is my first public OFP mission, so please be patient. Although i did a lot of private Missions for OFP and other Games. And i am a professional computer programmer and german ex-Paratrooper Sniper (AMF), that helps in some ideas and by the scripting. (P.S. I have found so many sniper missions (good and bad ones) i do not want to create one more. In the last weeks i have read a lot of Nam books. Thanks to Mr. Young for some Ideas.) Although i want to do a high value replay mission: Nearly everthing in this mission, has a chance of appearing and disappering. So the mission can play quite different if you try it a second time, Bronski described it very good in one of his beta testing sessions: Walkthroughs ============ (no spoilers, because the mission changes very time you play) (by my highly appreciated Beta Tester and great writer Bronski) "I played the new version twice in a row. First time i only encountered two or three VC, blew the weapons cache and i got out (i like the little cutscene at the end). And the second time......well, lets just say that it didn't go so well. I encountered a VC sitting on the ground, i creeped up to him and shot him with my silenced pistol. I go a little farther and a VC Squad decides to come up behind me. I lose one guy and take out all of them. I take the remainder of my team and head for the cover of some bushes, and i encounter another VC squad. During the intense firefight my other two guys are wounded and no longer able to walk. Now i head to the hooches. Found a weapon cache in the first one, i set my charge and head to the second one and i find another weapon cache. The intel was wrong I remember seeing a VC with a rocket launcher so i go out to find the body. Unknown to me, a NVA squad had also engage in that fierce fire fight and were still around. I see a flash out of the corner of my eye and i hear the bullets tearing into my flesh." I'll just say that no one should bash this mission until they play it a few times. It can be easy as hell or your team will get slaughtered. I love the birds you can come across. They also almost got me killed. I see them take off, i watch them for a second, then i move on through the bush, right through a trip wire. It actually made me jump. I actually had the VC ambush me without my men even spotting them. I lost my medic once that way. -Now on to the downed air support. One work can describe it: intense. "After playing the mission twice i decided, for the hell of it, to call in the air support. Well, there was a VC squad coming close to my position and i didn't know it. The VC engaged the helo and shot it down. I can see the smoke rising above the trees. The VC's are bearing down on me, next to me my mg'er openings up dropping a VC running for cover. The medic opens up with with his M16 as i pull myself off the ground. I make a dash for some ground cover. The radioman stays right on my ass. I head directly for the smoke, spraying bullets along the way. Both pilots are alive but the VC are bearing down on me. I run with the pilots back to my other guys position. My medic calls out that he is out of ammo. As my mg covers us i take everyone else to the remaining hooch. I was going to get the remaining satchel charge from my medic so i can blow the crash site. I hear the distinctive crack of an AK47. Dirt kicks up near my feet. I hit the dirt. One of the pilots takes a bullet in the face. I open fire, emptying my last clip. As crawl back behind the hooch i realize that everyone else is dead. I crawl back to the boat alone." Judgment by Bronski: I like that you can get in and out without much conflict, like the real seals try to do. When the helo is down the mission turns to sh*t and you have to fight like hell to get out. This mission is a keeper. Thanks Many Thanks to Bronski and Sham Pain for Beta testing the mission. Finally i want to thank to all OFPEC people for there great ideas and scripts. (although i did not use them one to one, they were a great source of inspiration) Especially Fishion for his general artillery script and snYpr for this Briefing manual. Thanks to Vektorboson for his Tailrotor Script. And SelectThis for the help with the AddOn. And Ebud for his support. Known Incorrectness: The rank titles are wrong (US Army instead of Navy). Can not be changed because of the OFP setting. The normal Seal Team size of seven men was reduced to four for easier coordination.
